Cortes Island organizes many events. We are famous for our Oysterfest. People come from far and wide to taste the fresh oysters and other shellfish, listen to the music and browse the artist stalls. Every year we have Cortes Day. It starts with a parade in the morning and is followed by a full program. Nail Snail and Bail is the most popular event of the day and there is music, good food and lots of children activities.

Sandcastle Day is another Cortes favourite. Every year people come up with the most interesting creations, it is a lot of fun and the whole beach is full with people building, watching, juroring and just having a great time. The Cortes Music Fest is another event you can not miss. Music, dancing, sunshine and good food. At the end of the season we have the harvest festival at linnaea farm. Eat delicious bannock, salad or have a burger. Compete in the farm contests and taste those pies!

Every Friday there is a farmers Market at Manson's Community Hall and on the surrounding grounds. Browse the stalls and get some delicious cookies, fresh lunch, organic produce, bread and baked goods, pottery, cards, frozen salmon and many more Cortes goodies and crafts. On Sunday there is a market at Squirrel Cove. Enjoy a low tide, have a lunch on the Squirrel Cove Restaurant deck and browse the market to see what the locals have created.

Explore the island during the day and return to the motel in the evening for rest and relaxation, a nice hot shower or bath. Spend the evening cooking your dinner on the bbq or use the fully equipped kitchen in your room. There are restaurants nearby if you feel like dining out.

Try a morning or afternoon jaunt of gold panning with your proprietor, Buddy, who can teach you what he's learnt from extracting gold from his own mining property in Likely, British Columbia.
